Emily Somers

Professor of Internal Medicine, Environmental Health Sciences, and Obstetrics & Gynecology, University of Michigan

Dr. Somers is an epidemiologist specializing in immune-mediated and musculoskeletal diseases. She also directs the Interdisciplinary Research & Team Science Program at the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research. Her work spans epidemiologic, clinical, and translational research, with an emphasis on women’s health and environmental health issues. Dr. Somers’ research interests include conditions that disproportionately affect females, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and scoliosis. She has also been actively involved in COVID-19 research and public health activities.
