Communications Manager

Sawani serves as the communications manager at Michigan Medicine with responsibility for community benefits and environmental, social and governance, or ESG, priorities, as well as pharmacy and innovation, government relations and select integration work that crosses all units. Previously, she was a part of the public relations team for several years, where she handled media relations and written communication for various departments across the institution. Sawani is passionate about fostering a sense of unity and bridging gaps between cultures through the art of storytelling. Michigan Medicine partners with Packard Health to increase access to care through new patient service center
In partnership with Packard Health, Michigan Medicine Laboratories, or MLabs, has opened a new patient service center for specimen collection at Packard Health Main (2650 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48108). The facility houses phlebotomists skilled in caring for patients of all ages and appointments are not needed.

Michigan Medicine designated leader in LGBTQ+ health care equity
Michigan Medicine recently received a score of 100 (out of a possible 100 points) on the Healthcare Equality Index, or HEI, a national LGBTQ+ benchmarking tool developed and maintained by the Human Rights Campaign.(link is external) The HEI 2022 evaluated health care facilities' policies and practices related to the equity and inclusion of their LGBTQ+ patients, visitors and employees.
